T O P I C R E V I E WSaraintheskiI'm having this urge to get a tattoo on my upper chest right in the middle one that has some meaning to me , plus I think it looks neat . I have been through quite a bit in the past 2 years and I feel like through these experiences i'm somewhat enlightened & I know that whatever I need is already in me . I was thinking about getting an om symbol or green tara because she has been a theme throughout these 2 years although I feel deities are used in the wrong way I was thinking more of something like these ... What do you think RegardesPlateroI'm not normally into tattoos, but I do think that the first design is pretty. I would say that a tattoo probably isn't disrespectful if you know the meaning behind it, the design is tasteful and not gaudy or flashy, and it's written/depicted correctly--from what you've written, it does sounds like you do know what it means and have done the research. And, too, it sounds like it would be covered, so it would be OK for work or formal events. Just be sure that you really want to do it, since tattoos are very expensive to try to remove, and make sure that you go to a reputable place. And, too, maybe just check to see what other people in your faith feel/teach about tattoos: some faiths are more accepting of them than others. Another idea that's not as permanent might be to have a piece of jewelry (I was thinking like a tasteful pendant or ring) custom-made so that it would be unique, have meaning for you, and you could take it off/it would not be permanent if you ended up not liking how it turned out. Again, though, just check in and see how others of your faith feel about it. SunChildLOVE LOVE LOVE the design & placement. ------------------Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. This is definitely something that I will need too think about for quite some time , I absolutely love the first design , I feel a strong connection with it , thank's for the customized pendant idea . I'm still debating whether this will look trashy and how this can turn out ..Saraintheski quote:Originally posted by SunChild:LOVE LOVE LOVE the design & placement. Also, I know someone who has a tatoo that's only visible in the dark... Don't laugh this is a real thing, there's special ink that will be completely invisible in the light but are completelty vissible in black light or that glow in the dark. I don't know much about it but though it might be a cool alternative for someone who wants a tatoo but doesn't want it to be visible to the pubic...Saraintheski quote:Originally posted by FireMoon:First of all I think the design is beautiful and don't think it's disrespectful at all if you know the meaning behind it and it's significant for you.... I personally love tattoos. I think they are a beautiful and creative way to express yourself. My only concern is how big will your tattoo be? The pain doesn't bother me personally. I find it pretty relaxing myself. The chest area seems to be pretty bony, though. Might be painful. Have you thought about your back? The back area is a great place to get tattoo work done. Good luck on your tattoo.David Bowie EyesWhomever brought up the glow in the dark option has my vote as the best compromise between reducing possible "buyer's remorse" up the road and "publicity" concerns now. The colors of the upper of the two examples at the top of this thread would naturally lend themselves to the neon glow theme.S
